Of Mt. Laurel, NJ - On Sunday, January 14, 2018, George Rau, father, brother and grandfather, passed away at the age of 93 years. George will be forever remembered by his children, Patricia (Albert) and Greg, by his sister Eleanor, grandchildren Kristen, Nikki and Kayla and great-grandchildren Taylor and Michael. George will also be forever remembered by his extended family and dear friends. George is a veteran of both World War II and the Korean War, where he served as an EOD specialist. The discipline and patriotism he learned in the Army never left him, as friends and family will attest. He was also a proud member of the SPEBSQSA and the Pine Barons Barbershop Chorus of Cherry Hill.
A viewing was held 7-9pm Thursday, January 18 and 10-11am Friday January 19 at BRADLEY FUNERAL HOME, 601 NJ 73 South at Evesham Rd., Marlton, NJ.
A Celebration of George's life will be held on Friday, January 19 at 11am at the Funeral Home. Donations in memory of George may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
George was elected to DELA in 1998 and attended his last annual meeting in 2016. We will miss his war stories and his gruff manner that barely concealed his warm heart.
DELA members and other barbershoppers may also contribute to Harmony Foundation International (by mail) 110 Seventh Ave North, Suite 200 - Nashville TN 37203-3704 or (online) Harmony Foundation. George’s name will be honored on the 'Keep a Melody Ringing' wall in Nashville when gifts totaling $1000 are received in his memory.
