Raymond (Ray) Patsko

Raymond Patsko, 77, of Solomon Street, Wilkes-Barre Township, passed away at Post Acute Medical in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital on Thursday, Nov. 26, 2015.

Raymond was born Nov. 29, 1937, in Wilkes-Barre, and was a resident of Kent Lane. He was the son of the late Andrew and Mary (Minnick) Patsko and a graduate of GAR High School, Class of 1955, where he was a member of the chorus and marching band.

Raymond's two true loves were his wife, Theresa Patsko, and his music. Raymond married Theresa on March 26, 1989, and enjoyed many loving years always together whatever they did.

Raymond's second love was his music. Raymond had been a member of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America, Inc. for 55 years; he was also the director of the Wyoming Valley Barbershop Chorus for 35 years. He was chairman of his 50th class reunion, a member of the Slovak Heritage Society, and a member of the North End Citizens Club. He also was a deliverer of Meals-on-Wheels.

Raymond worked as a printer and ended his career at Llewelyn & McKane Inc., where he worked for 17 years. After he retired he enjoyed taking care of Theresa and his sister, Nancy. Before his passing, Ray was the caretaker by day and singer at night. He loved to sing and would often do traveling valentines with his fellow Barbershoppers on Valentine's Day. Raymond was a loving and caring soul and enjoyed helping people and making them smile with his jokes or music.

Raymond was a member of St. Mathew Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wilkes-Barre, and was a counsel usher and choir member for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Mary Patsko; brothers, Andrew, Paul, Robert and Kenneth; and sister, Mrs. Irene Height.

Surviving are his wife of 26 years, the former Theresa Koreny; stepdaughters, Patrina Seminara, Deborah Wright and Ann Lane; numerous great-grandchildren, grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and sisters, Dolores Kosek, Nancy Patsko and Jean Savelli and husband, Joe.

The family would like to thank Dr. William Boyle, and the staff at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital for the care and attention Raymond was given while at the hospital.

Viewings were held at George A. Strish Inc. Funeral Home. He will rest in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, 667 N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18705.
