My main roll has been as chorus performance coordinator. I contact places for performances, set up the date and time, and keep track of the chorus members who are available to perform that day via sign up genius. In my first year in this roll, I organized nearly 2 dozen gigs for the chorus! Due to this effort, I was awarded with the first ever President’s Award from the chapter.
I keep in constant contact with chorus members regarding shows, rehearsals, contests, and the Singing Valentine program. Taking charge of Singing Valentines is a huge job that I tackle head on. I organize the orders, assign quartets to deliver the Valentines, and I have each delivery set up with directions, important contact information, valentine cards, flowers, etc...I even find time to sell a few Valentines!
I attend monthly board meetings to give updates on performances. I also give valid feedback. I am always willing to step up to the plate no matter how big or small the job is. I even assist in marketing the chorus. I created the chorus business cards, formed and now manages the chorus Facebook Fan Page, produced the chorus You Tube promotional video, and have advertised the chorus rehearsals and performances on local Patch websites, the Gazette, and Gigmasters.com.
I've taken photos of the chorus which have been uploaded to the Facebook page. I've acted as videographer for the chorus. The videos are used as an educational tool for the chorus. When the chorus changed web hosts, I facilitated that change. I transferred and uploaded all of the new information. I've updated the website, added people to the chorus email list, and granted new members access to our website.
I'm also a part of the Mid-Atlantic District Marketing Team. I work with the team to come up with ideas of promoting District wide events.
When I'm not helping out with Barbershop related items, I am busy teaching 1st grade! I've been teaching for 10 years and it's a dream come true!
I have my Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education. I have my Masters Degree in Educational Technology. I'm also certified in Early Childhood Education.
I currently have my Masters +30 and am aiming for my Masters +60.
