John Casey (Silver Medallist tenor of Vaudeville) was the motivator in
getting The Bingo Brothers Barbershop Quartet (later shortened to Bingo
Brothers) off the ground. John called Dennis Malone (Gold Medallist
baritone of The Side Street Ramblers) and they both contacted Gary Parker
(Gold Medallist bass of the Dealer's Choice) who was then living in
Richmond, VA. With a "go" from Gary, the trio started looking for a lead.
Don Clause suggested Lynn Conaway (District Champ and Top-20 lead with
Tradewinds). After talking with Lynn, things progressed to the point where
the foursome started singing together regularly and doing shows, though
stretched across several states -- living in Richmond, Northern Virginia,
Baltimore, MD and Lancaster, PA. The quartet competed in New Orleans (1992)
where they finished 8th. Soon after, Lynn left the quartet and the search
began for his replacement.
John's sister, suggested a fantastic young
19-year old kid she had heard named Fred Womer (later became a District
Champ and Top-20 lead with Premiere). Fred joined up and the quartet
quickly resumed. They competed in Pittsburgh (1994) where they finished
10th. Soon thereafter, the quartet retired. They will always be remembered
for Gary's Texan wit and their popular song, "Ride Red, Ride."
